BENTARAKATA is an independent creative collective of writers, artists, bakers, creators and makers of sorts working together to inspire Sabahans to experience and practice a lifestyle of compassion for a sustainable future. Through the use of literature, art, performance arts and film, the studio offers a safe-space for its patrons to express themselves without fear of discrimination, criticism, harassment, or any other emotional or physical harm. The studio is also deaf-friendly.
The collective is structured to operate as a social enterprise, meaning revenue derived from the studio activities is invested back into the programs to increase it artistic and social outcomes. Income derived from the sale, exhibition, film screenings and other programs directly benefits the artist and communities we support.
